Looking for historical sales and total vehicles in operation (VIO) of BEVs and PHEVs by state? 

In this Excel file, you will find three spreadsheets:

1. EV sales (registrations) by state and the District of Columbia for 2011-2022.

Each year is broken down:

• BEV (battery electric vehicle) sales
• PHEV (plug-in hybrid) sales
• Total EV (BEV + PHEV) sales

2. Cumulative vehicles in operation (VIO) by state and the District of Columbia  for 2011-2022.

VIO is an estimate of the cumulative total sales minus a percentage factor each year of vehicles that go out of operation (totaled from accidents, mechanical failure from age, etc.)

Each year is broken down:

• BEV (battery electric vehicle) sales
• PHEV (plug-in hybrid) sales
• Total EV (BEV + PHEV) sales
• ICE
• Total LPV
• BEV VIO%
• PHEV VIO%
• EV VIO%

3. Light Passenger Vehicle (LPV) sales by state and the District of Columbia for 2011-2022. 

This sheet includes the total number of light passenger vehicle (LPVs) sales for each state. The LPV numbers are estimated from the powertrain sales share percentages.
