December 31, 2021: 21, 676 DC Fast Chargers in the US
The number of installed DC fast chargers (ports) grew to 21, 676 at the end of 2021, up from 17,460 on December 31, 2020. The growth of 4,216 charging ports was a YOY increase of 24%.
The number of installed DC fast chargers (ports) grew to 21, 676 at the end of 2021, up from 17,460 on December 31, 2020. The growth of 4,216 charging ports was a YOY increase of 24%.
While the total increase of 4,216 DC fast chargers in 2021 over 2020 was the second highest change in deployments since 2018, the 24.1% growth rate was the lowest over the four-year period. This is partially due simply to math and increasingly larger base, but also the significant growth in the previous 3 years especially due to the expansion of the Tesla Supercharger network.
Over the five-year period from December 31, 2017 to December 31, 2021, the number of DC fast charger ports increased 248%.
